Dragons drop 43-14 decision on Senior Day

Tiffin University got off on the wrong foot on Senior Day, falling behind 17-0 after one quarter en route to a 43-14 loss to Northern Michigan in their final home game of 2010.

After falling behind by 17 points, the Dragons got on the board in a dramatic way when Brendton Williams broke through the line and blocked a Wildcats' punt, then picked it up and returned it 12 yards for a touchdown to make the score 17-7.

After NMU responded with a 33 yard field goal on their next possession, Tiffin fired back with one big play, a 55-yard touchdown reception by David Singleton off a short pass from Jason Young. Singleton broke around right end and streaked down the sideline for the TD, bringing the Dragons to within 6 points at 20-14.

The Wildcats bounced right back before halftime, taking their next possession and putting together a 6 play, 67 yard drive and scoring with 14 seconds left to make the score 27-14 at the half.

Tiffin could not get on track in the second half as Northern Michigan continued a solid power running game, putting up 16 more second-half points while keeping TU off the board.

Overall NMU outrushed TU 327 to -53 yards, and 385-128 in total offense. The Wildcats controlled the ball with 25 first downs to TU's 8, including a 23-1 edge in rushing first downs. The Dragons also had 5 turnovers in the game with 4 interceptions while also allowing 5 sacks.

Singleton had 76 yards receiving on 5 catches with a TD and 160 all-purpose yards, while Darrion Brown had 2 catches for 52 yards. Young finished with 181 yards passing on 13 of 25 passes with 4 interceptions.

Defensively, Logan Snell had 15 tackles, Mike Virgin had 13 tackles and 2 for loss, and Chase Barnes had 12 tackles. Joseph Collard also had 9 tackles with 2.5 for loss.
