Tiffin University (3-3) dropped a pair of games in Indiana, losing to Indianapolis 10-5 and Southern Indiana 7-4.
The Dragons and Southern Indiana played a back and forth game. The Dragons opened scoring in the third inning. Heidi Marshall got a double and came home on Brooke Lambert's triple as TU took a 1-0 lead.
The lead was shortlived, however, as two walks, a double, and a passed ball led to three USI runs in the bottom of the frame as TU fell behind 3-1.
TU bounced back in the fifth inning. Kirsten Georges and Jamie Sevenish opened with singles and were then sacrificed to second and third. Lambert drove home Georges with a sacrifice fly. Hayley Kobie reached base after getting hit by a pitch, and Gabrielle Hess made them pay by stroking an RBI double. TU got its third run of the inning when Libby Crow reached on an error by the pitcher as TU took a 4-3 lead.
Once again the Dragons could not hold the lead. In the bottom of the fifth, USI collected four hits and a walk including two triples leading to four runs as they took a 7-4 lead.
The Dragons failed to get a baserunner over the final two innings.
TU also fell to the Greyhounds 10-5. Three Dragons errors led to 7 unearned runs as TU dug a hole it could not get out of.
TU trailed 8-0 before getting on the board in the 5th inning. Kaylee Savage walked and was sacrificed to second. She then scored on Sevenish's double and scampered home on Heidi Marshall's RBI single to make the score 8-2.
TU got three more runs in the 6th inning. Kobie, Hess, and Chloe Swaisgood opened with singles. Savage then drew a walk for an RBI. Chelsey Trusty pinch hit and got another run home on a sacrifice fly. Sevenish got another run home with a single to close out the scoring for TU.
