As the indoor track & field season nears its end, the Dragons opened day one of the Great Midwest Indoor Championship on Friday at Ashland University.
The women's track & field team currently sits in sixth place with a total of 19 points at the end of day one.
The majority of points thus far has come through the indoor pentathlon where
Emily Curtice finished on the podium in third place with a total of 3400 points, just six points off of second. She collected six points for Tiffin and was followed closely by
Cassidy Vogt in fourth place with a total of 3368 points and netting a further five points for TU. Both marks for Curtice and Vogt qualify as NCAA DII provisional.
A combination of
Ines Macadam,
Liana Rodriguez,
Zaynah Tate, and
Greta Macadam competed in the distance medley relay and finishing in fourth place and setting a program record with a time of 11:53.61. In the 5000-meter event,
Charlotte Campbell placed sixth in 17:42.48 and closed out the point scoring for the Dragons with three more.
Just missing out on points was
C'airra Carter in the long jump, placing ninth with a mark of 5.37 meters.
Brittany Devall was the top finisher for Tiffin in the weight throw, ending in 14th with a toss of 16.68m.
The conference championship continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. beginning with the women's high jump.
