The Tiffin University women's track & field team had a strong weekend, competing at the GVSU Big meet on Friday as well as hosting its third indoor meet of the season.
Friday – GVSU Big Meet
The Dragons sent a handful of student-athletes to compete in three middle and long distance events at Grand Valley State. In the 800-meter,
Ines Macadam placed fifth with a time of 2:11.33 which improved her provisional time and ranks second in the G-MAC.
Charlotte Campbell ran the 5000-meter and recorded the fourth fastest time in the conference, placing ninth at the meet in 17:20.33.
Liana Rodriguez also placed 20th overall in the 400-meter in 57.49 seconds.
Saturday – Tiffin Open #3
At the Tiffin Open #3, the Dragons recorded wins across six different events.
Emily Curtice took first place in both the 60-meter dash in eight seconds flat, as well as the 400-meter in 1:01.22. The 200-meter race was won by
Caliyah Wallace with a time of 25.64. She was followed closely by Chelsea Janice in second in 26.21.
In the mile,
Allison Henegar took the top spot with a time of 5:35.43 while the sixth and final event victory came through
Samantha Smith in the pole vault. She posted a mark of 3.80m which improves her NCAA DII provisional from her previous 3.75m-mark.
Both
Cassidy Vogt and
Angela Ejimofor improved their personal bests for the season in the 60-meter hurdle. They finished second and third respectively with times of 8.96 and 9.18 seconds.
In one week's time, the Dragons will head to the University of Findlay's Flag City Tune-Up on Friday, February 16.
