The Tiffin University women's track & field team found success at their second home meet of the indoor season, the Tiffin Open #2, finishing in first place in all but two events.
The Dragons recorded numerous 1-2-3 finishes including the 60-meter dash which was led by
Chelsea Janis (8.03 seconds) followed by
Angela Ejimofor (8.30) in second and
Samiah Rembert (8.35) in third. Janis also took first place in the 200-meter with a time of 26.03 seconds.
Caliyah Wallace came in second (26.30) with
Deona Davis just over a second behind (27.50).
In the 400-meter event,
Liana Rodriguez (1:00.67) took first just ahead of Wallace in second (1:00.91). Tiffin collected all top-five finishers in the 800-meter, led by
Ines Macadam (2:16.62),
Greta Macadam (2:18.99), and
Zaynah Tate (2:25.66).
Charlotte Campbell placed second in the mile with a time of 5:14.46 followed by
Audrey Sanzone finishing third in 5:36.92.
Another top three sweep was taken in the 60-meter hurdles, with
Cassidy Vogt taking first in 9.28 seconds followed by Ejimofor (9.55) and
Emily Curtice (9.82). Curtice, Vogt,
C'airra Carter, and
Kearston Lunsford combined to take first place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:18.38.
Tiffin performed well in the field events as well as
Morgan Foos and Vogt tied for first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m. The pole vault was won by
Samantha Smith, posting a mark of 3.55m followed by
Makayla May (3.40m) and
Lily Hollibaugh (3.40M). Vogt collected her fourth first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.12m while
Kamaria Shepard ended in second with 5.03m.
Brittany Devall and
Harley West both finished first and second respectively in the shot put and weight throw. Devall recorded a mark of 12.03m in the shot put and 16.42m in the weight throw with West posting marks of 11.83m in the shot put and 15.52m in the weight throw.
The Dragons will now compete at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic this coming Friday, January 26 in Allendale, Michigan.
