Ruben Fonga was a winner on day one of the ITA Championships held in Rome, Georgia Oct. 12.

Fonga, playing in the men's singles open draw, defeated Nico Ramirez of Biola University 6-1, 6-4. He will now face Takeshi Taco of Valdosta State University in quarterfinal action Oct. 13 at 12 pm.

Ramirez was the West ITA champion while Fonga was the champion from the Midwest Region.
