The Tiffin University Tennis team competed against Lake Superior State University on Sunday. The Dragons were victorious in their first GLIAC home match of the season by a score of 8-1.
Doubles
1st doubles was more of the same for the Dragons duo of Cutting/Ludena as they dispatched Lister/Munro quickly by a score of 8-0. The Dragons' first doubles team has been a force to be reckoned with this season and looks to continue their aggressive playstyle of power and net dominance.
2nd doubles was the lone falter on the day for the Dragons as they lost a tough 5-8 decision to LSSU's Prime/Valderrama.
3rd doubles saw improvement for the pairing of Kopronica/Lezama as they won an 8-5 decision. Lezama/Kopronica have had an up and down year coming into GLIAC play, but seem to be on the rise as they have been successful as of late.
Singles
1st singles was a big 6-4, 6-2 win to start off conference play for the Dragons and their top singles player Ludena. The top spot always plays the best a team has to offer and Ludena has lived up to the challenge.
2nd singles saw Lezama getting off to a great start and keeping the momentum going with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Lezama had struggles early on in the season at 2nd singles, but seems to have pulled through and looks to transition that success into the GLIAC season.
3rd singles saw TU's Cutting continue his blistering success as a Dragon with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Cutting has been on fire since joining the Dragon tennis squad and is posting a great year so far.
4th singles saw one of TU's captains able to get back to his home court success with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Mangone looks to get back to his winning ways at home as the Dragons continue into conference play.
5th singles saw the freshman Kopronica taking down Miles Munro for a quick 6-2, 6-2 win matching Mangone's mark earlier in the match.
6th singles featured the final match and TU's senior captain Fernandes getting things done with a 6-1, 6-4 win over TJ Myers. Fernandes enters his final season as a Dragon tennis player and starts it off with a big win.
