Tiffin Finishes Among The Top Four At GLIAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Emmanual Grembo won the 100-meter dash as the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field teams concluded the GLIAC Championships, Friday. The Dragons hit nine NCAA Division II Provisional Standards, broke three school records and had 25 top 10 finishes and eight additions to the top 10 list.

On the men's side, Grand Valley State scored 213.50 points to win the meet. Rounding out the top three was Ashland with 161 points and Findlay with 117 points. TU placed fourth with 99 points. For the women, Grand Valley State cruised scoring 239 points to win by over 100 points. Rounding out the top three was Ashland with 124.50 points and Tiffin with 74 points.

For the men, Grembo ran 10:58 to become the first Dragon to win the 100m dash at the GLIAC meet. Zach Cernansky was runner-up in the 110m hurdles at 14.57. That hit the NCAA DII provisional standard and was third fastest in school history.

Dominic Colvin ran an NCAA DII provisional time of 47.41 to finish third in the 400m dash. That broke the school record of 48.26 set by Patrick Manders in 2007. The Dragons also garnered third place performances from John Pemberton in the shot put (57 feet, five inches) and the 400m relay team of Jacob Buckwalter, Justin Ware, Omar Lane and Grembo (41.35).

For the women, Kayla Ellks leaped 39 feet, 5.25 inches to place second in the triple jump. She hit the NCAA DII provisional standard and broke the TU record of 39 feet, 10.25 inches set earlier in the year by Marielle Segbor. Katie Gerhardt was third in the discus with an NCAA DII provisional throw of 160 feet, one inch. She broke her own school record of 155 feet, 11 inches.

The Dragons had a trifecta of fourth place performances. Cashing in were Lynzi Daughenbaugh in the 400m hurdles (1:02.63), Meghan Gill in the high jump (five feet, 3.25 inches) and Segbor in the triple jump (38 feet, four inches).
