Fisher and Gerhardt Hit NCAA DII Provisional Standard

TIFFIN, Ohio - Colin Fisher (1500) and Katie Gerhardt (discus) hit the NCAA Division II Provisional Standard as the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field teams competed at two meets this weekend. TU had 48 top 10 finishes, 22 additions to the top 10 list and broke two school records.

At the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational (Cincinnati, Ohio), the men scored 101 points to place third. Cincinnati won the meet with 156 points followed by Miami of Ohio with 123 points. The women scored 46.50 points to finish ninth. The top three were Cincinnati (1st - 191.50 pts), Marquette (2nd - 102 pts) and Miami of Ohio (3rd - 83.50). The Dragons also competed at the Yellowjacket Collegiate Open (Cedarville, Ohio).

For the men, Fisher ran 3:51.77 to win the 1500. It was the second fastest time in school history and the fifth fastest time in the country this season. The 400-meter relay team of Tony Marshall, Justin Ware, Jacob Buckwalter and Emmanual Grembo took first with a time of 41.47. It is the third fastest time in TU history.

Tiffin had a trifecta of runner-up performances. Hitting the trifecta was Grembo in the 100m dash (10.83), Andrew Moore in the 110m hurdles (55.00) and John Pemberton in the shot put (56 feet, 4.75 inches). Connor Kibler was third in the javelin with a toss of 170 feet, three inches. That is the third longest throw in school history.

At the Yellowjacket Collegiate Open, Gavin Jones was the runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 1.25 inches. Brent Hunter ran 15:24.83 to finish third in the 5000.

For the women, Gerhardt placed fifth in the discus with a toss of 155 feet. That is the fourth longest throw in the country this season and she broke her own school record by 10 feet. In the heptathlon, Lynzi Daughenbaugh was fifth with 4269 points. That shattered the old school record of 3645 set last year by Andrea Glenn.

Marielle Segbor jumped 17 feet, 9.50 to win the long jump. Meghan Gill cleared five feet, 4.25 inches to tie for fourth in the high jump. Carly Reese ran the second fastest 5000 in TU history at 18:17.28.

At the Yellowjacket Collegiate Open, Jennifer Colone was runner-up in the 5000. Her time of 18:26.47 is the third fastest in school history.
