FINDLAY, Ohio - Lynzi Daughenbaugh (pentathlon), Kayla Ellks (long jump), Emmanuel Grembo (long jump) and Marielle Segbor (long jump) placed among the top three for the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field team on the first day of the GLIAC Championships. The Dragons had eight NCAA Division II Provisional marks, 21 top 10 finishes and 17 additions to the top 10 list.
The women scored 29 points and are third behind Grand Valley State (1st - 66 pts.) and Ashland (2nd - 53 pts.). The men are fourth with 19 points and trail Ashland (1st 43 pts.), Grand Valley State (2nd - 42 pts.) and Findlay (3rd - 20 pts.).
Men
Grembo leaped 22 feet, 5.75 inches to place second in the long jump. It was the fourth longest jump in school history. Reid Kibler cracked the top 10 list placing fourth with a jump of 22 feet, 2.25 inches. Additional scorers came from Connor Kibler in the long jump (7th - 21 feet, 8.25 inches) and the distance medley relay team of Jimmy Charles, Shaun Borland, Sylvester Watts and Colin Fisher (5th - 10:19.06).
In the 60-meter dash, Grembo, Deven Keene and Justin Ware all qualified for the final (6.91, 6.92, 6.93). All three times hit the NCAA DII Provisional standard and were the second, third and fourth fastest times in school history. Also qualifying for finals were Zach Cernansky in the 60m hurdles, Keene in the 200m dash (22.06, NCAA DII Provisional, 2nd fastest time in prelims) and Andrew Moore in the 60m hurdles.
Women
Ellks leaped 18 feet, 6.50 inches to place second while Segbor went 18 feet, 4.25 inches to take third. Both marks hit the NCAA DII Provisional standard. Daughenbaugh scored 3521 points to finish third in the pentathlon. In the pentathlon 60m hurdles, Daughenbaugh broke her own school record with an NCAA DII Provisional time of 8.86. She also qualified for the individual 60m hurdle final.
Jocelyn Rollins jumped 17 feet, 9.75 inches to place fifth in the long jump. The distance medley relay team of Rebecca Miller, Markita Holland, Jessica Kern and Carly Reese were sixth at 12:23.45. That broke the school record of 12:25.67 set in 2010. Ashley DeWitt was seventh in the 20-LB weight with a toss of 60 feet, 5.25 inches.
In the 60m dash prelims, D'Wanda Ford ran the third fastest time in school history at 7.85. She missed the final by 2/100th of a second. Miranda Mondozzi had the third longest weight throw at 52 feet, 4.75 inches.
