ANGOLA, Ind. - Ashley DeWitt threw the 20-LB weight over 60 feet, one of six NCAA Division II Provisional marks for the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field team at the Trine Invitational, Friday. The Dragons had 35 top 10 finishes and seven additions to the top 10 list.
Competing in field events and three running events, Tiffin made their mark. The women scored 119 points to place second behind Adrian at 144.5 points. For the men, TU scored 65 points and finished fourth. Ahead of TU was Trine (1st - 144 pts.), Albion (2nd - 99 pts.) and Adrian (3rd - 82 pts.)
Women
DeWitt uncorked a toss of 60 feet, 10 inches to win the weight by well over nine feet. Her toss was a school record, an NCAA Provisional mark and is 11th best in the country. In the long jump, Kayla Ellks jumped 18 feet, 8.50 inches to win. She hit the provisional mark and was just ½ of an inch off the school record. Meghan Gill was the third winner with a provisional mark, clearing five feet, 5.75 inches in the high jump.
Marielle Segbor placed second in the long jump at 18 feet, three inches. That was fourth longest in school history and hit the provisional mark. The Dragons picked up wins from Chyna Davis in the 60-meter hurdles (9.35), Taylor Deskins in the 200 dash (26.47) and Katherine Gerhardt in the shot put (45 feet, 10.75). Miranda Mondozzi was second in the weight (51 feet, two inches, fourth best in TU history) and shot put (40 feet, seven inches).
Men
Deven Keene and Justin Ware both hit the tape at 6.95 to share winning the 60m dash. Both times hit the provisional standard. TU received wins from Reid Kibler in the long jump (21 feet, 8.75 inches), Travis LeFlore in the high jump (six feet, eight inches) and Andrew Moore in the 60m hurdles (8.49).
