FINDLAY, Ohio - John Pemberton (shot put) broke the school record and hit the NCAA Division II Provisional mark for the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field team at the Findlay Indoor Classic, Saturday. The Dragons had 57 top 10 finishes and nine additions to the top 10 list.
Men
Pemberton won the shot put with a toss of 57 feet, 3.50 inches. He hit the NCAA DII provisional mark and broke the school record he set last year. Antonio Combs won the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 8.25 inches.
The Dragons received runner-up performances from Emmanuel Grembo in the 60-meter dash (6.99), Travis LeFlore in the high jump (six feet, eight inches) and the 1600m relay team of Deven Keene, Dominic Colvin, Justin Ware, and Jacob Buckwalter (3:22.87).
Women
Meghan Gill cleared five feet, five inches to tie for first in the high jump. Joining Gill on the winner's podium was Kayla Ellks. She jumped 17 feet, 5.5 inches to claim top honors in the long jump.
The 1600m relay team of Carlea Harper, Lynzi Daughenbaugh, Taylor Deskins and Markita Holland placed second. Their time of 4:05.14 was the fourth fastest in TU history. The Dragons picked up additional second place finishes from Taylor Deskins in the 200 dash (26.40), Ashley Gilroy in the 3000 (10:50.88) and Marielle Segbor in the triple jump (36 feet, five inches).
Tiffin is back in action, Saturday, Feb. 4, when they compete in the DII Challenge in Geneva, Ohio. The meet is scheduled to run all day.
