OXFORD, Ohio - Records were made to be broken. Between the past two weekends, Tiffin track and field is proving that adage true.

The men's 4x100 meter relay and Kayla Ellks (triple jump) both broke the school standards as the men's and women's track and field teams competed in Oxford, Ohio at the Miami University RedHawk Invite Saturday (April 30).

Ellks shattered the mark in the triple jump by more than two feet, winning the event with a hop, skip and a step of 37'9.25" (11.51 meters). The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Deven Keene, Justin Ware, Jakob Buckwalter and Anthony Thomas captured a win and the school record with a time of 41.41.

Other event championships on the day include a Tiffin sweep in the high jump. Meghan Gill captured the women's title with a leap of 5'5.25" (1.66 meters) while Travis LeFlore took the men's event with a mark of 6'8.0" (2.03 meters). Eugene Cannady cleared the same height as LeFlore, but took second because of Travis clearing the bar in an earlier jump.

Ellks also captured second in the long jump with a distance of 17'10.75" (5.45 meters) while Lynzi Daughenbaugh took runner-up in the 100 and 400 hurdles with times of 15.26 and 1:04.50, respectively. The women's 4x100 relay team of Kira Beckham, Taylor Deskins, Daughenbaugh and Ellks missed the week-old school record by .02 with a time of 48.14 to finish second.

Other action on the men's side saw Antonio Combs and Darrion Brown finish second and third in the triple jump. Combs recorded a 44'7.5" (13.60 meters) while Brown tallied a mark of 43'-2.25" (13.16 meters).

Tiffin returns to action Wednesday at the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Northwood in Midland, Mich. Wednesday-Friday (May 4-6).
