TIFFIN, Ohio - Lynzi Daughenbaugh and Emmanual Grembo hit NCAA Division II Provisional marks as the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Golden Flash Gala and the Purple and White Invite. The teams combined for 26 top 10 finishes, two school records and 13 additions to the top 10 list.
Women
Golden Flash Gala - Kent, Ohio
Daughenbaugh led the way as she placed second in the Pentathlon with 3533 points. She hit the NCAA provisional mark and shattered the school record by over 750 points. Daughenbaugh ended up breaking her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles by clocking nine seconds flat. In addition, she ranked among the top 10 in school history in the high jump (2nd - five feet, 5.25 inches), long jump (5th - 18 feet, 0.25 inches) and the 800 (6th - 2:30.02).
The Dragons finished 2-3-4 in the long jump with Jocelyn Rollins, Kayla Ellks and Marielle Segbor. Meghan Gill cleared five feet, five inches to place second in the high jump. TU picked up fourth place finishes from Tichelle Brant in the 1000 (3:19.66) and Segbor in the triple jump (37 feet, six inches).
Purple and White Invite - Bexley, Ohio
Ashley DeWitt and Katie Gerhardt each won a throwing event for Tiffin. DeWitt had a toss of 56 feet, 2.50 inches to win the 20-lb weight by over six feet. In the shot put, Gerhardt took first place honors with a put of 44 feet, two inches. DeWitt was runner-up in the shot put (43 feet, 3.75 inches) and Miranda Mondozzi was fifth in the weight (45 feet, 7.75 inches).
Men
Golden Flash Gala - Kent, Ohio
Grembo clocked a 6.92 to place fourth in the 60m dash. It hit the NCAA provisional standard and was the second fastest time in TU history. Justin Ware finished fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 49.12. Sylvester Watts ran 1:07.20 to finish fifth in the 500. His time was the third fastest in school history.
Purple and White Invite - Bexley, Ohio
The Dragons had the top collegiate finisher in three of four events they competed in. John Pemberton won the shot put with a toss of 55 feet, 5.75 inches. In the long jump, Reid Kibler had a career-best leap of 21 feet, 2.50 inches. He was the top collegiate finisher and second overall. In the 35-lb weight, Ralph Robinson had a throw of 47 feet, 6.25 inches. That placed him first among collegiate throwers and third overall.
Tiffin is off until Friday, January 21, when they compete in the GLIAC South Preview. The meet, which is in Geneva, Ohio, is scheduled to run all day.
