BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Sophomore Ashley Gilroy finished 14th to earn All-Region honors as the Tiffin University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Midwest Region Championships, Saturday afternoon at Katke Golf Course. The men ran a 10K while the women ran a 6 K.

The men scored 287 points to finish 10th. The women scored 262 points to place 10th.

For the women, Grand Valley State put four among the top six to score 29 points, beating Ferris State by 77 points. Rounding out the top five were Saginaw Valley State (3^rd - 135 pts.), Ashland (4^th - 193 pts.) and Southern Indiana (5^th - 199 pts.). Individually, Amanda Putt of Hillsdale ran 21:26.40 to win.

Gilroy's time of 22:35.10 was the second fastest time in school history. She became just the third women's runner in TU history to earn all-region honors. Rounding out the top five were junior Carly Reese (29^th - 23:08.90), freshman Jessica Kern (57^th - 23:45.50), freshman Emily Richmond (77^th - 24:04.10) and senior Becky Miller (85^th - 24:09.00).

For the men, Grand Valley State had five among the top eight to score 20 points, winning by 55 points over Southern Indiana. Rounding out the top five were Ashland (3^rd - 88 pts.), Wayne State (4^th - 183 pts.) and Ferris State (5^th - 191 pts.). Individually, Anthony Witt of Grand Valley State ran 31:58.50 to win.

Freshman Colin Fisher led the way running 33:18.70 to place 28th. Rounding out the top five were freshman David Knack (33^rd - 33:25.30), freshman Kevin McKown (47^th - 33:51.80), sophomore Brent Hunter (78^th - 34:31.10) and junior Michael Grunden (101^st - 34:55.30).
