Tiffin University's track squad split up on Saturday, Jan. 29, with groups going to Findlay for the Findlay Open and Lake Erie for the Lake Erie Open.
The women's squad at Findlay had solid finishes, with Meghan Gill taking first in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-3, and Kayla Ellks winning the long jump with a leap of 17-2.
Other top finishers for the women were Ashley Dewitt (4th in the shot put with 43-10) and Ellks (3rd in the triple jump with 34-2.75)
For the men at Findlay, Travis LeFlore was the top finisher, taking second and bettering his provisional mark high in the high jump with 6-9.5 (2.07 meters). He has the 11th-best mark in the country.
John Pemberton, the seventh-best shot putter in the country, was third in the event with a toss of 53-9.75, while Antonio Combs (triple jump, 43-3.25) and Lee Miller (pole vault, 15-1) posted a pair of fourth place finishes.
At Lake Erie in a pair of non-NCAA events, the Dragons had two event champions, with Zachary Lathrop posting a win in the 600 meters in 1:21.2. The 4x800 team of Jeremy Lee, Lathrop, Sylvester Watts, and Stephen Miles also won in 7:52.25.
Lee, Watts, Miles, and Lathrop also posted a second-place finish in the DMR with a time of 10:08.37, a provisional mark by almost two seconds and the fourth-best in the country. Justin Ware also hit the provisional mark took second place in the 200 meters in 21.78 (13th-best mark in the country).
For the women, TU posted two sixth place finishes.
Kira Beckham (7.92) in the 60 meter dash, and
Carly Reese (5:13.25) in the mile.
