OBERLIN, Ohio - The Tiffin University men's tennis team took to the courts this weekend at the Oberlin Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Justin Kopronica led the Dragons on the weekend by going undefeated in singles play. The senior opened with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Earlham before taking down John Carroll 3-6, 6-0, 10-6. Kopronica capped off his play in the tournament with a tight 7-5 victory over Ashland on Sunday.
Four Dragons went 1-1 in singles action during the tournament: Nikita Parfenov(3-6, 6-1, 10-6 win over Oberlin), Tom Arias (6-3, 6-2 win over Case Western), Ryan Gase (7-5 over Wooster), and Caleb Carter (8-2 over Oberlin).
Toby Cutting also picked up a victory over Denison by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
In doubles action, the duo of Parfenov and Arias secured Tiffin's lone doubles win, defeating Case Western Reserve 8-5.
Tiffin returns to action on Oct. 6 when they take part in the Northwest Ohio Invitational.
