Tiffin University (3-2) allowed a goal early in the second half and could not equalize, falling on the road at Saginaw Valley State 1-0.
The Dragons were outshot in the first half 7-2 but headed to halftime in a scoreless tie. But in the 48th minute, SVSU's Michael Hamilton scored an unassisted goal to give the Cardinals the lead.
The second half saw the Cardinals increase their shot edge 11-3, as the Dragons could not crack the SVSU defense. TU managed just two shots on goal, which were stopped by goalkeeper Lukas Betz.
Overall TU was outshot 18-5 while also falling behind in corner kicks 7-2.
